Peptide Calculator
Vial and water math for Tesamorelin, with a research record of published human trials. Math only, no suggested amounts.
Compound (Optional)
Desired Amount Per Dose
IU measures activity, not weight, so 1 IU is never treated as 1 mcg. The math below uses the vial’s own IU count.

Titration Schedule (Optional)
Saved as this peptide’s dose schedule. You can change it in Schedule & Log.
Holds automatically at this dose.
Keeps going up on schedule. Tap Hold at This Dose when you get there.
Not knowing is normal. Everyone is different, and the app will help guide you as needed.
You set every number here. PeptideWhiz doesn’t suggest a plan. This is what gets saved, and it’s what your log header and printed schedule show.
About Tesamorelin
Tesamorelin is a stabilised analogue of human GHRH, the hypothalamic hormone that signals the pituitary to release growth hormone. A small chemical group added to the start of the chain protects it from rapid breakdown.
Research status
Tesamorelin is FDA-approved as a prescription medicine (Egrifta) to reduce excess abdominal fat in people with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Research has since extended to liver fat and cognition in published trials.
How the math works for any vial (concentration, U-100 units, mg and mcg) is explained step by step on the main peptide reconstitution calculator page. Read the full What is Tesamorelin? guide for mechanism, trials and conditions researched.
What published studies used
Research record, not a recommendation or protocol
These are published human trials of Tesamorelin from the PeptideWhiz study library. The last column quotes each study’s PubMed abstract word for word, so it shows what that study reported giving its participants under medical supervision. It is not advice, and the calculator never fills these numbers in on its own: you can copy one only by tapping its button and confirming.
| Study | Year | Journal | As reported in the abstract | PubMed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Efficacy and safety of tesamorelin in people with HIV on integrase inhibitors. | 2024 | AIDS (London, England) | “We leveraged a randomized double-blind trial of 61 PWH and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tesamorelin 2 mg once daily vs. identical placebo among participants on INSTI-based regimens at baseline.” | PMID 38905488 |
| Effects of tesamorelin on non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in HIV: a randomised, double-blind, multicentre trial. | 2019 | The lancet. HIV | “Participants were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive either tesamorelin 2 mg once daily or placebo once daily for 12 months, followed by a 6-month open-label phase during which all participants received tesamorelin 2 mg daily.” | PMID 31611038 |
| Effect of tesamorelin on visceral fat and liver fat in HIV-infected patients with abdominal fat accumulation: a randomized clinical trial. | 2014 | JAMA | “Participants were randomized to receive tesamorelin, 2 mg (n=28), or placebo (n=22), subcutaneously daily for 6 months.” | PMID 25038357 |
| Growth hormone-releasing hormone effects on brain γ-aminobutyric acid levels in mild cognitive impairment and healthy aging. | 2013 | JAMA neurology | “Participants self-administered daily subcutaneous injections of tesamorelin (Theratechnologies Inc), a stabilized analogue of human GHRH (1 mg/d), or placebo 30 minutes before bedtime for 20 weeks.” | PMID 23689947 |
| Effects of tesamorelin, a growth hormone-releasing factor, in HIV-infected patients with abdominal fat accumulation: a randomized placebo-controlled trial with a safety extension. | 2010 | Journal of acquired immune deficiency syndromes (1999) | “In the primary efficacy phase (months 0-6), patients were randomly assigned to receive tesamorelin [2 mg subcutaneous (SC) every day] or placebo in a 2:1 ratio.” | PMID 20101189 |

Tesamorelin calculator FAQ
What is Tesamorelin?
Tesamorelin is a growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) analogue. Tesamorelin is a stabilised analogue of human GHRH, the hypothalamic hormone that signals the pituitary to release growth hormone.
Is Tesamorelin approved?
Tesamorelin is FDA-approved as a prescription medicine (Egrifta) to reduce excess abdominal fat in people with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. Research has since extended to liver fat and cognition in published trials.
Does this page suggest a Tesamorelin dose?
No. The calculator dose field starts empty and PeptideWhiz never suggests, recommends or calculates an amount for anyone. The study table is a research record of what published trials reported, not a recommendation or protocol.
Where do the study numbers on this page come from?
Each row quotes the abstract of a published human trial (5 trials, 2010 to 2024) word for word, as indexed in PubMed, with a link to the PubMed record. Nothing is rounded, combined or converted.
How does the calculator work with a Tesamorelin vial?
Pick Tesamorelin in step 1 if you want it on your result card, then enter the vial amount printed on your own label and the water volume actually added. The tool divides one by the other for concentration and shows the matching U-100 syringe units for an amount you type. Pens and pre-filled syringes are already in liquid form and are not reconstituted.
