What This Study Did, in Plain Language

What Was Tested

In this not phased trial, researchers set out to test Desmopressin.

This study is designed as a single institution trial.

DDAVP stimulation and 18F-labeled fluoro-deoxyglucose (FDG) uptake for PET-imaging will be used to detect MRI-negative pituitary adenomas in patients with Cushing s disease.

It had 1 arm (groups): 1 (experimental).

Patients aged 8 or older with Cushing's Disease who are surgical candidates for resection of ACTH producing pituitary adenoma within 12 weeks of PET imaging.

The registry classes the interventions as drug.

More on the Plan

Study Description: This study is designed as a single institution trial.

DDAVP stimulation and 18F-labeled fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake for PET-imaging will be used to detect MRInegative pituitary adenomas in subjects with Cushing s disease.

Subjects who have MRI-negative pituitary microadenomas will undergo FDG PETimaging with DDAVP stimulation.

Within 24 weeks after completion of the FDG high-resolution PET scan, subjects will undergo surgical resection of the pituitary adenoma.

Who Took Part

22 planned participants were the target.

It was open to people of any sex aged from 8 years up to 99 years.

Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.

Examples of who could join: Subjects aged 8 or older with biochemical evidence of Cushing s disease and a clinical MRI pituitary neuroradiology result of negative or possible adenoma (e.g. "no tumor" or "possible tumor"). MRI of the pituitary gland with and without contrast obtained within 9 months of screening. For newly diagnosed Cushing s disease cases, IPSS is required. Ability to undergo PET-imaging without general anesthesia. Ability to provide informed consent for study participation (parents or guardians in the case of minors).

The full record lists 10 inclusion and 16 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: current pregnancy or lactation; uncontrolled, severe hypotension (sustained blood pressure \<90/60), or symptomatic hypotension; current use of any of the following medications:.

How the Study Was Run

Design: single-group and open-label.

Nothing was hidden in this open-label Desmopressin study: the participants and staff both knew the treatment.

Everyone received the same intervention, so there was no separate comparison group inside the trial.

It started in 2026-03-09 with completion listed for 2028-02-26.

It ran at 1 site in United States.

Its stated primary purpose is diagnostic.

What This Means in Plain Language

Put simply, this is a not phased trial of Desmopressin in 22 people.

Its size is small, so on its own it can only give an early look.

It is still recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.

More context: the Desmopressin compound page, all human trials.

Our Notes on the Compound

Desmopressin: A synthetic vasopressin analog (DDAVP) used for bedwetting, diabetes insipidus and some bleeding disorders.
