What This Study Did, in Plain Language
What Was Tested
In this not phased trial, researchers set out to test Vasopressin.
It had two arms (groups): Vasopressin group (experimental) and Placebo group (placebo comparator).
Placebo.
The registry classes the interventions as drug.
More on the Plan
Initial studies have employed intranasal AVP during a socio-emotional eye tracking paradigm and reported effects on both, top-down as well as bottom-up control.
Within this context the present study aims to validate the effects of orally administered AVP on top-down and bottom-up attentional control towards socio-affective stimuli.
The task paradigm will encompass social (happy, angry, fearful, sad and neutral faces) and non-social (oval) stimuli to examine the social and emotion-specific effects of oral vasopressin.
Who Took Part
80 planned participants were the target.
It was open to people of any sex aged from 18 years up to 40 years.
Healthy volunteers could join, not only people with the condition.
The full record lists 0 inclusion and 12 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: history of neuropsychiatric diseases; history of cardiac disease, including arrhythmias, aortic stenosis, or congestive heart failure; history of syncope or unexplained loss of consciousness; history of hepatic diseases, including cholestasis, biliary obstructive disease, or severe liver dysfunction.
How the Study Was Run
The set-up was randomized, parallel-group and double-blind.
The participants were allocated by chance, so the Vasopressin group and the comparison group should start out alike.
Groups ran in parallel: each of the participants stayed in one arm throughout.
As a double-blind Vasopressin study, the assignments were hidden from both participants and investigators until the end.
Those kept unaware of assignments: participant and investigator.
It started in 2024-03-05 with completion listed for 2025-06-01.
It ran at 1 site in China.
Its stated primary purpose is basic science.
What Was Measured
Researchers chose this as the main measure: Saccade/antisaccade latency difference between social and non-social stimuli after oral vasopressin administration (time frame: 45 minutes - 75 minutes after treatment). Error rate of saccade/antisaccade for social versus non-social stimuli after oral vasopressin administration (time frame: 45 minutes - 75 minutes after treatment).
It also tracked 2 secondary outcomes, for example Saccade/antisaccade latency for different facial emotions after oral vasopressin administration and Error rate of saccade/antisaccade for different facial emotions after oral vasopressin administration.
What This Means in Plain Language
Put simply, this is a not phased, randomized trial of Vasopressin in 80 people.
Its status is unknown; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.

Our Notes on the Compound
Vasopressin: A 9-amino-acid hormone (antidiuretic hormone) that controls water balance and blood vessel tone; used in septic shock.
