What This Study Did, in Plain Language
What Was Tested
This registered phase 1 trial tested Semaglutide.
It had five arms (groups): SYH9017 SAD experimental group (experimental), Placebo SAD group (placebo comparator), SYH9017 MAD experimental group (experimental), Placebo MAD group (placebo comparator) and Positive Control MAD group (active comparator).
Subjects in SAD experimental groups will receive a single subcutaneous injection of SYH9017 on Day 1.
Subjects in SAD placebo groups will receive a single subcutaneous injection of placebo on Day 1.
Subjects in MAD experimental groups will receive subcutaneous injection of SYH9017 every 4weeks.
The registry classes the interventions as drug.
Who Took Part
66 planned participants were the target.
It was open to people of any sex aged from 18 years up to 60 years.
Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.
Examples of who could join: Chinese male or female adult participants aged 18-60 years (inclusive) with overweight or obesity, with no less than one-third of the participants of either gender;.
The full record lists 5 inclusion and 20 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: A history of severe drug or food allergies, or any participant who is judged by the investigator to potentially be allergic to the investigational drug;; A personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or a history of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (MEN2); any one of the following criteria is met:.
How the Study Was Run
The set-up was randomized, parallel-group and quadruple-blind.
Random assignment meant chance, not the researchers, decided who got Semaglutide and who got the comparison, which limits bias.
The Semaglutide group and the comparison group ran side by side rather than switching.
Blinding on both sides kept the participants and researchers unaware of who received Semaglutide.
Those kept unaware of assignments: participant, care provider, investigator and outcomes assessor.
It started in 2025-02-27 with completion listed for 2026-08-01.
It ran at 1 site in China.
Its stated primary purpose is treatment.
What This Means in Plain Language
