What This Study Did, in Plain Language

What Was Tested

The trial (phase 3) is built around Semaglutide.

Eligible participants will be screened and randomized to the experimental group and the active comparator group at a ratio of 1:1 , semaglutide injection or WEGOVY® injection will be given once weekly for 44 weeks, following by a safety follow up of 4 weeks.

All participants received a lifestyle intervention that involved counselling on diet and physical activity.

It had two arms (groups): HDM1702 (experimental) and WEGOVY® (active comparator).

The registry classes the interventions as drug.

Who Took Part

460 planned participants were the target.

It was open to people of any sex aged from 18 years up to 75 years.

Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.

Examples of who could join: Male or female, aged ≥18 years and ≤75 years at the time of signing informed consent;. BMI ≥28 kg/m2;.

The full record lists 3 inclusion and 8 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: history of type 1 and type 2 diabetes;; previous or planned (during the trial period) obesity treatment with surgery or a weight-loss device;; history or presence of chronic or acute pancreatitis;.

How the Study Was Run

The set-up was randomized, parallel-group and open-label.

Because people in this Semaglutide study were split into groups at random, differences between the groups are less likely to reflect who happened to join each one.

Groups ran in parallel: each of the participants stayed in one arm throughout.

Everyone knew when Semaglutide was being given (open label), which is simpler to run but leaves more room for expectations to affect what is reported.

It started in 2025-01-03 with completion listed for 2026-04.

It ran at 1 site in China.

Its stated primary purpose is treatment.

What Was Measured

The main thing measured (primary outcome): The percentage change in body weight from baseline to week 44 (time frame: week 44).

It also tracked 5 secondary outcomes, for example Change in waist circumference, body weight and BMI at week 44, Change in blood pressure and lipids at week 44, Adverse events and ADA and NAb.

What This Means in Plain Language

Put simply, this is a phase 3, randomized trial of Semaglutide in 460 people.

It is still recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.

Our Notes on the Compound

Semaglutide: The active ingredient in several prescription GLP-1 receptor agonist medicines (Ozempic, Wegovy, oral tablets).
