What This Study Did, in Plain Language

What Was Tested

The trial (phase 2) is built around Eloralintide.

Participation in the study will last about 48 weeks.

It had four arms (groups): Macupatide (Macupatide + Eloralintide Placebo) (experimental), Eloralintide (Elorlintide + Macupatide Placebo) (experimental), Macupatide + Eloralintide (experimental) and Placebo (Macupatide Placebo + Elorlintide Placebo) (placebo comparator).

Participants will be administered macupatide subcutaneously (SC) and eloralintide placebo SC.

Participants will be administered eloralintide SC and macupatide placebo SC.

Participants will be administered eloralintide SC and macupatide SC.

The registry classes the interventions as drug.

Who Took Part

200 planned participants were the target.

It was open to people of any sex aged from 18 years up to 75 years.

Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.

Examples of who could join: Have type 2 diabetes. Have been treated with any of the following, alone or in combination, for at least 3 months prior to screening. Diet and exercise. Sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. Have a BMI of 27 or greater at screening.

The full record lists 8 inclusion and 20 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: have any form of diabetes other than type 2 diabetes; have a prior or planned surgical treatment for obesity, except prior liposuction or abdominoplasty, if performed \>1 year prior to screening; have any of the following cardiovascular conditions within 3 months prior to screening:.

How the Study Was Run

Design: randomized, parallel-group and double-blind.

Random assignment meant chance, not the researchers, decided who got Eloralintide and who got the comparison, which limits bias.

The Eloralintide group and the comparison group ran side by side rather than switching.

Blinding on both sides kept the participants and researchers unaware of who received Eloralintide.

Those kept unaware of assignments: participant and investigator.

It started in 2025-10-16 with completion listed for 2027-03.

It ran at 42 sites in United States (26), Australia (8), Argentina (6) and Puerto Rico (2).

Its stated primary purpose is treatment.

What Was Measured

The main thing measured (primary outcome): Percent Change from Baseline in Body Weight (time frame: Baseline, Week 32).

It also tracked 3 secondary outcomes, for example Change from Baseline in Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), Change from Baseline in Body Mass Index (BMI) and Change from Baseline in Fasting Glucose.

What This Means in Plain Language

Put simply, this is a phase 2, randomized trial of Eloralintide in 200 people.

Its status is active not recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.

Our Notes on the Compound

Eloralintide: An investigational selective amylin-receptor agonist studied in once-weekly phase 2 obesity trials.
