What This Study Did, in Plain Language
What Was Tested
This registered phase 4 trial tested Semaglutide.
It had two arms (groups): Semaglutide (experimental) and No pre-treatment (active comparator).
No pre-treatment prior to ovarian stimulation Pre-treatment.
The registry classes the interventions as drug and other.
More on the Plan
Overweight and obese women (BMI 27-40 kg/m²) aged ≤38 years with adequate ovarian reserve (AMH ≥1 ng/mL or AFC ≥6) will be enrolled.
Participants will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to receive either 12 weeks of semaglutide pre-treatment (intervention group) or no pre-treatment (control group) before undergoing standard ovarian stimulation.
Embryos will be cultured to the blastocyst stage and cryopreserved (freeze-all strategy).
Primary outcome: number of good-quality blastocysts on day 5.
Who Took Part
The registry lists 62 planned participants were the target.
It was open to women only aged from 18 years up to 38 years.
Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.
Examples of who could join: ≤ 38 years. AMH \>= 1 ng/mL or AFC \>= 6. Body mass index (BMI) between 27 kg/m2 and 40 kg/m2. Scheduled for IVF with freeze-all strategy.
The full record lists 4 inclusion and 10 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: severe male factor (sperm concentration \<5m/ml); type 2 diabetes mellitus; prior use of glp-1 ras within the past year.
How the Study Was Run
Design: randomized, parallel-group and open-label.
Random assignment meant chance, not the researchers, decided who got Semaglutide and who got the comparison, which limits bias.
Groups ran in parallel: each of the participants stayed in one arm throughout.
Nothing was hidden in this open-label Semaglutide study: the participants and staff both knew the treatment.
It started in 2026-01-19 with completion listed for 2027-02.
It ran at 5 sites in Spain (5).
Its stated primary purpose is treatment.
What Was Measured
The main thing measured (primary outcome): Number of good quality blastocysts (GQB).
It also tracked 22 secondary outcomes, for example Days of stimulation, Number COCs, Number MII, Fertilization rate, Time of appearance of the 2nd polar body (tPB2) and Time of pronuclei appearance (tPNa).
What This Means in Plain Language
Put simply, this is a phase 4, randomized trial of Semaglutide in 62 people.
It is still recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.

Our Notes on the Compound
Semaglutide: The active ingredient in several prescription GLP-1 receptor agonist medicines (Ozempic, Wegovy, oral tablets).
