What This Study Did, in Plain Language
What Was Tested
This registered phase 2 trial tested Angiotensin II.
This clinical trial will test whether a short infusion of a drug called angiotensin II (AT-II) can make a liver cancer treatment work better.
The drug is given directly into the artery that supplies blood to the liver, right before a treatment called yttrium-90 (90Y) radioembolization.
It had 1 arm (groups): Radioembolization with intra-arterial angiotensin II (experimental).
Single-arm study in which all participants undergo standard yttrium-90 (⁹⁰Y) radioembolization for primary or metastatic liver tumors. During the therapeutic radioembolization procedure, angiotensin II is administered intra-arterially immediately prior to ⁹⁰Y glass microsphere injection at each arterial injection position.
The registry classes the interventions as drug and radiation.
Who Took Part
The registry lists 15 planned participants were the target.
It was open to people of any sex aged from 18 years with no upper age limit.
Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.
Examples of who could join: Patients diagnosed with primary or metastatic liver tumors (any histological type). A clinical indication for radioembolization. Liver tumors with a diameter ≥ 2 cm. Age ≥ 18 years. Competent and able to provide own informed consent (no legally designated representative).
The full record lists 6 inclusion and 17 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: uncontrolled hypertension; treatment with ≥ 3 antihypertensive drugs; arterial (cerebro-)vascular or venous thromboembolic event within the past 6 months.
How the Study Was Run
Design: single-group and open-label.
Everyone knew when Angiotensin II was being given (open label), which is simpler to run but leaves more room for expectations to affect what is reported.
Everyone received the same intervention, so there was no separate comparison group inside the trial.
It started in 2026-01-01 with completion listed for 2027-05-01.
It ran at 1 site in Netherlands.
Its stated primary purpose is treatment.
What Was Measured
It also tracked 2 secondary outcomes, for example Safety, as evaluated by the absence of adverse events, of intra-arterial angiotensin II infusion combined with radioembolization and Technical success of intra-arterial angiotensin II administration.
What This Means in Plain Language
Put simply, this is a phase 2 trial of Angiotensin II in 15 people.
Its size is small, so on its own it can only give an early look.
It is still recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.

Our Notes on the Compound
Angiotensin II: An 8-amino-acid hormone that narrows blood vessels; synthetic angiotensin II (Giapreza) is used for low blood pressure in shock.
