What This Study Did, in Plain Language
What Was Tested
In this not phased trial, researchers set out to test NAD+ for low blood pressure and orthostatic hypotension.
Age-associated endothelial dysfunction and arterial stiffness are recognized as the key contributors to the development of hypertension and the unique role of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) depletion in the pathogenesis of vascular dysfunction has been recently discovered.
It had four arms (groups): NR + BW (experimental), PL + BW (placebo comparator), NR (active comparator) and PL (placebo comparator).
NR supplementation plus brisk walking.
Placebo plus brisk walking.
NR supplementation only.
The registry classes the interventions as behavioral, dietary supplement and other.
Who Took Part
The registry lists 112 planned participants were the target.
It was open to women only aged from 55 years up to 80 years.
Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.
Examples of who could join: Women absent of menstruation for over one year,.
The full record lists 3 inclusion and 6 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: presence of health conditions that contraindicate participation in exercise training, such as a history of cardiovascular disease, cancer, or musculoskeletal disorders,; a history of hysterectomy,; current use of vitamin b supplements and/or nad precursors,.
How the Study Was Run
It was run as a randomized, parallel-group and triple-blind study.
The low blood pressure and orthostatic hypotension participants were allocated by chance, so the NAD+ group and the comparison group should start out alike.
Groups ran in parallel: each of the low blood pressure and orthostatic hypotension participants stayed in one arm throughout.
Blinding on both sides kept the low blood pressure and orthostatic hypotension participants and researchers unaware of who received NAD+.
Those kept unaware of assignments: participant, investigator and outcomes assessor.
It started in 2026-04 with completion listed for 2026-12.
Its stated primary purpose is treatment.
What Was Measured
Researchers chose this as the main measure: Blood pressure (time frame: From enrollment to the end of follow-up at 20 weeks).
It also tracked 13 secondary outcomes, for example Whole Blood NAD concentration, Endothelin 1, Angiotensin, Body mass, Fat mass and Fat-free mass.
What This Means in Plain Language
Put simply, this is a not phased, randomized trial of NAD+ in 112 people with low blood pressure and orthostatic hypotension.
Its status is not yet recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.

Our Notes on the Compound
