What This Study Did, in Plain Language
What Was Tested
This registered not phased trial tested Amylin (Islet Amyloid Polypeptide) and Pancreatic Polypeptide.
The two pancreatic hormones amylin and pancreatic polypeptide (PP) has been linked to satiety and energy metabolism.
The goal of this this study is to determine the separate and combined effects of the two hormones on food intake and other exploratory endpoints related to metabolism in healthy humans.
The aim of this study is to investigate the interaction between the hormones and obtain insight into the physiology of the hormones.
It had four arms (groups): Amylin (Pramlintide) + Placebo (active comparator), PP + Placebo (active comparator), Amylin (Pramlintide) + PP (active comparator) and Placebo + Placebo (placebo comparator).
The registry classes the interventions as drug.
Who Took Part
The registry lists 18 planned participants were the target.
It was open to men only aged from 18 years up to 65 years.
Healthy volunteers could join, not only people with the condition.
Examples of who could join: Age between 18 and 65 years at the time of inclusion. Body mass index 18-27 kg/m2. Informed oral and written consent.
The full record lists 5 inclusion and 9 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: anaemia (haemoglobin below normal range); history of hepatobiliary and/or gastrointestinal disorder(s); kidney disease.
How the Study Was Run
It was run as a randomized, crossover and double-blind study.
The participants were allocated by chance, so the Amylin (Islet Amyloid Polypeptide) group and the comparison group should start out alike.
Each person switched between Amylin (Islet Amyloid Polypeptide) and the comparison at some point, usually with a gap in between.
As a double-blind Amylin (Islet Amyloid Polypeptide) study, the assignments were hidden from both participants and investigators until the end.
Those kept unaware of assignments: participant and investigator.
It started in 2026-04 with completion listed for 2026-10.
It ran at 1 site in Denmark.
Its stated primary purpose is basic science.
What Was Measured
Primary outcome: Food intake (time frame: 300 to 330 minutes).
It also tracked 2 secondary outcomes, for example Composite appetite score and Sensations of hunger, satiety, fullness, prospective food intake, nausea, thirst, comfort.
What This Means in Plain Language
Put simply, this is a not phased, randomized trial of Amylin (Islet Amyloid Polypeptide) and Pancreatic Polypeptide in 18 people.
Its size is small, so on its own it can only give an early look.
It is still recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.
More context: the Amylin (Islet Amyloid Polypeptide) compound page and the Pancreatic Polypeptide compound page, all human trials.
Our Notes on the Compounds
Amylin (Islet Amyloid Polypeptide): A 37-amino-acid hormone released with insulin that slows stomach emptying and signals fullness; pramlintide (Symlin) is a synthetic version.
Pancreatic Polypeptide: A 36-amino-acid pancreatic hormone in the same family as peptide YY and neuropeptide Y.
