What This Study Did, in Plain Language

What Was Tested

In this phase 4 trial, researchers set out to test Semaglutide for fat loss, obesity & body recomposition.

It had 1 arm (groups): one (experimental).

The registry classes the interventions as drug.

More on the Plan

Participants with a history of pancreatitis, medullary thyroid carcinoma, multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2, pregnancy or lactation, severe renal or hepatic impairment, current use of other anti-obesity medications, or known hypersensitivity to semaglutide will be excluded to ensure participant safety and minimize confounding factors.

Secondary objectives include evaluating changes in body mass index, waist circumference, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, lipid profile (total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein, high-density lipoprotein, and triglycerides), liver enzymes (alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase), and quality of life over the study period.

Safety and tolerability will be assessed through continuous monitoring of adverse events and adverse drug reactions, with causality assessment using the Naranjo Adverse Drug Reaction Probability Scale.

Clinical and laboratory assessments will be conducted at baseline, 12 weeks, and 24 weeks to evaluate treatment response and safety outcomes.

Who Took Part

60 planned participants were the target.

It was open to people of any sex aged from 18 years with no upper age limit.

Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.

Examples of who could join: Adults aged 18 years or older. No diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus, confirmed by:. Willingness and ability to provide written informed consent. Willingness to comply with study procedures, including weekly injections and lifestyle counseling.

The full record lists 5 inclusion and 7 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: history of pancreatitis; history or presence of medullary thyroid carcinoma or multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 (men2); pregnant or lactating women.

How the Study Was Run

The set-up was single-group and open-label.

Nothing was hidden in this open-label Semaglutide study: the fat loss, obesity & body recomposition participants and staff both knew the treatment.

Everyone received the same intervention, so there was no separate comparison group inside the trial.

It started in 2025-08-01 with completion listed for 2026-08-30.

It ran at 1 site in Pakistan.

Its stated primary purpose is treatment.

What Was Measured

The main thing measured (primary outcome): Percentage Change in Body Weight (time frame: Baseline to 24 weeks).

It also tracked 5 secondary outcomes, for example Change in Body Mass Index (BMI), Change in Waist Circumference, Change in Lipid Profile, Change in Liver Enzymes and Safety and Adverse Drug Reactions.

What This Means in Plain Language

Put simply, this is a phase 4 trial of Semaglutide in 60 people with fat loss, obesity & body recomposition.

It is still recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.

Our Notes on the Compound

Semaglutide: The active ingredient in several prescription GLP-1 receptor agonist medicines (Ozempic, Wegovy, oral tablets).
