What This Study Did, in Plain Language
What Was Tested
The trial (phase 2) is built around Ecnoglutide.
It had four arms (groups): VRB-101 (Active Arm 1) (experimental), VRB-101 (Active Arm 2) (experimental), VRB-101 (Active Arm 3) (experimental) and Placebo (placebo comparator).
Participants will receive VRB-101 once every week.
Participants will receive VRB-101 once every week.
Participants will receive VRB-101 once every week.
The registry classes the interventions as drug.
More on the Plan
The study comprises three active arms and one placebo arm.
The study will include a Screening Period of approximately 4 weeks, followed by a 16-week Treatment Period and a 4-week Safety Follow-up Period prior to the end of the study.
Who Took Part
8 actual participants took part.
It was open to people of any sex aged from 18 years up to 80 years.
Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.
Examples of who could join: Documented history of having obesity or overweight with weight-related comorbidities per medical records at the time of initiation of SC semaglutide and/or tirzepatide treatment. History of treatment with weekly SC semaglutide and/or tirzepatide for a minimum of 6 months prior to Screening. Participants of childbearing potential (POCBP) must be non-pregnant and non-lactating and must agree to use study-specified contraceptive methods.
The full record lists 5 inclusion and 15 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: evidence of uncontrolled hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism based on an abnormal thyroid-stimulating hormone (tsh); personal or family history (first-degree relative) of multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2a or type 2b, thyroid c-cell hyperplasia, or medullary thyroid carcinoma; poorly controlled hypertension or an elevated resting pulse rate (\>100 bpm).
How the Study Was Run
The set-up was randomized, parallel-group and triple-blind.
Random assignment meant chance, not the researchers, decided who got Ecnoglutide and who got the comparison, which limits bias.
The Ecnoglutide group and the comparison group ran side by side rather than switching.
As a double-blind Ecnoglutide study, the assignments were hidden from both participants and investigators until the end.
Those kept unaware of assignments: participant, care provider and investigator.
It started in 2026-06-12 with completion listed for 2026-09-11.
It ran at 20 sites in United States (20).
Its stated primary purpose is treatment.
What Was Measured
It also tracked 5 secondary outcomes, for example Percent change in body weight from baseline, Absolute change in body weight from baseline, Change in blood pressure from baseline and Change in Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale (C-SSRS) from baseline.
What This Means in Plain Language
Put simply, this is a phase 2, randomized trial of Ecnoglutide in 8 people.
Its size is small, so on its own it can only give an early look.
It ended early (terminated); no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.

Our Notes on the Compound
Ecnoglutide: A once-weekly cAMP-biased GLP-1 receptor agonist from Sciwind Biosciences, approved in China in 2026 for type 2 diabetes and weight management.
