What This Study Did, in Plain Language

What Was Tested

In this not phased trial, researchers set out to test NAD+.

It had two arms (groups): Placebo (placebo comparator) and Nicotinamide riboside (NR) (active comparator).

Placebo portion of the trial.

NR Portion of the trial.

The registry classes the interventions as dietary supplement and drug.

Who Took Part

10 planned participants were the target.

It was open to people of any sex aged from 18 years up to 85 years.

Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.

Examples of who could join: Aged \>/= 18 to 85 years of age. Diagnosis of Combined pre-/post-capillary PH (CPH) defined as mean pulmonary artery pressure \>20mmHg, pulmonary capillary wedge pressure \>15mmHg, and pulmonary vascular resistance ³3 Wood units. NYHA Class I - III. Stable PH-specific and/or HF medication regimen and ≤1 diuretic adjustment within the three months prior to enrollment. Ambulatory - able to perform the walk test.

The full record lists 6 inclusion and 12 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: prohibited from regular activity due to wheelchair bound status, bed-bound status, reliance on a cane/walker, activity-limiting angina, activity-limiting osteoarthritis, or other conditions that limit activity; drug and toxin-associated pah patients with active drug use; prior or active diagnosis of cirrhosis.

How the Study Was Run

It was run as a randomized, crossover and double-blind study.

The participants were allocated by chance, so the NAD+ group and the comparison group should start out alike.

In the crossover set-up each of the participants took both NAD+ and the comparison in turn, acting as their own control.

Blinding on both sides kept the participants and researchers unaware of who received NAD+.

Those kept unaware of assignments: participant and investigator.

It started in 2026-04-09 with completion listed for 2027-04-30.

It ran at 1 site in United States.

Its stated primary purpose is treatment.

What Was Measured

The main thing measured (primary outcome): Exploratory physiological measure: Change in 6-minute walk distance (time frame: Baseline, Week 6, Week 9, Week 15).

It also tracked 13 secondary outcomes, for example Change in N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide Values, Change in Empahsis-10 score, Change in SF-36 Score, Change in Tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion, Change in RV Fractional Area and Change in RV Longitudinal Strain.

What This Means in Plain Language

Put simply, this is a not phased, randomized trial of NAD+ in 10 people.

Its size is small, so on its own it can only give an early look.

It is still recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.
