What This Study Did, in Plain Language
What Was Tested
The trial (phase 2) is built around Tirzepatide.
Surgical removal of the adrenal gland (adrenalectomy) is standard treatment, but some patients continue to have metabolic health problems after surgery.
It had two arms (groups): GLP-1 Treatment (active comparator) and Standard of Care arm (active comparator).
Participants in this arm will receive standard of care management for as determined by their treating clinician.
The registry classes the interventions as drug and other.
More on the Plan
This prospective, randomized study will enroll adults with MACS and elevated blood pressure who are undergoing unilateral adrenalectomy.
Following surgery, participants will be randomized in a 1:1 ratio to one of two groups: adrenalectomy alone or adrenalectomy followed by tirzepatide therapy for 12 months.
The primary focus of the study is to evaluate blood pressure control at 12 months.
Secondary outcomes include change in body weight, body mass index, glycemic control, medication burden, and patient-reported quality of life.
Who Took Part
34 planned participants were the target.
It was open to people of any sex aged from 18 years with no upper age limit.
Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.
Examples of who could join: Adults aged 18 years and older. Elevated blood pressure (SBP ≥120 mmHg or DBP ≥80 mmHg per the 2025 American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association \[ACC/AHA\] criteria, or current use of antihypertensive medication). Undergoing or having undergone adrenalectomy for the treatment of MACS.
The full record lists 5 inclusion and 6 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: bilateral adrenal lesions; adrenal malignancy; concurrent primary aldosteronism with macs.
How the Study Was Run
It was run as a randomized, parallel-group and open-label study.
Because people in this Tirzepatide study were split into groups at random, differences between the groups are less likely to reflect who happened to join each one.
The Tirzepatide group and the comparison group ran side by side rather than switching.
Being open-label, the Tirzepatide study did not mask who received what.
It started in 2026-07-27 with completion listed for 2028-07-31.
It ran at 1 site in United States.
Its stated primary purpose is treatment.
What Was Measured
Primary outcome: Change in systolic blood pressure (time frame: Baseline and 12 months).
It also tracked 5 secondary outcomes, for example weight, medication, HbA1c, quality of life metrics and BMI.
What This Means in Plain Language
Put simply, this is a phase 2, randomized trial of Tirzepatide in 34 people.
Its size is small, so on its own it can only give an early look.
It is still recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.

Our Notes on the Compound
Tirzepatide: A prescription peptide medicine that acts on both the GIP and GLP-1 receptors; Mounjaro and Zepbound contain the same active ingredient.
