What This Study Did, in Plain Language
What Was Tested
The trial (phase 2) is built around Vasopressin.
Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), one of the leading causes of pulmonary hypertension (PH), is caused by the chronic obstruction of the pulmonary arteries following episode of pulmonary embolism.
It is the only cause of PH which is accessible to a potential curative surgical treatment: the pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA).
Because of their underlying disease (pulmonary hypertension and potential right heart dysfunction), anesthesia should be performed cautiously.
It had two arms (groups): Vasopressin (experimental) and Norepinephrine (active comparator).
The registry classes the interventions as drug.
Who Took Part
Enrollment: 90 planned participants were the target.
It was open to people of any sex aged from 18 years with no upper age limit.
Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.
Examples of who could join: Age ≥18 years;. Patient scheduled for pulmonary endarterectomy surgery;. In women of childbearing potential: negative serum pregnancy test and use of adequate contraception;. Affiliation to the French social care service;. Patient able to understand and sign a written informed consent form.
The full record lists 5 inclusion and 13 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: emergency surgery;; mesenteric ischemia and/or acute coronary syndrome within the month preceding the intervention;; patients with documented mesenteric artery stenosis;.
How the Study Was Run
It was run as a randomized, parallel-group and open-label study.
Because people in this Vasopressin study were split into groups at random, differences between the groups are less likely to reflect who happened to join each one.
Groups ran in parallel: each of the participants stayed in one arm throughout.
Everyone knew when Vasopressin was being given (open label), which is simpler to run but leaves more room for expectations to affect what is reported.
It started in 2026-08-01 with completion listed for 2026-08-02.
It ran at 1 site in France.
Its stated primary purpose is treatment.
What Was Measured
The main thing measured (primary outcome): mPAP in millimeter of mercury (mmHg) measured by the Swan-Ganz catheter in the operating room (time frame: at the end of skin closure immediately following the completion of the PEA procedure).
What This Means in Plain Language
Put simply, this is a phase 2, randomized trial of Vasopressin in 90 people.
Its status is not yet recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.

Our Notes on the Compound
Vasopressin: A 9-amino-acid hormone (antidiuretic hormone) that controls water balance and blood vessel tone; used in septic shock.
