What This Study Did, in Plain Language
What Was Tested
In this phase 4 trial, researchers set out to test Tirzepatide.
Eligible participants will be adults aged 18 to 65 years with a body mass index of 28 to less than 40 kg/m² and newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes who have not used glucose-lowering medications in the past 3 months.
Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: an AI-assisted intensive lifestyle intervention group, a tirzepatide treatment group, or a standard lifestyle management control group.
It had three arms (groups): AI-Assisted Intensive Lifestyle Intervention (experimental), Tirzepatide Treatment (active comparator) and Standard Lifestyle Management (active comparator).
Participants in this arm will receive an AI-assisted intensive lifestyle intervention, including individualized dietary and lifestyle guidance supported by an AI-based platform and nutritionist follow-up, in addition to standardized lifestyle education.
Participants in this arm will receive tirzepatide treatment according to the study protocol, in addition to standardized lifestyle education.
The registry classes the interventions as behavioral and drug.
Who Took Part
The registry lists 285 planned participants were the target.
It was open to people of any sex aged from 18 years up to 65 years.
Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.
Examples of who could join: Male or female participants aged 18 to 65 years. Body mass index ≥28 kg/m² and \<40 kg/m². Able to communicate with the investigators, willing to comply with the study protocol, and voluntarily sign the informed consent form.
The full record lists 5 inclusion and 27 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: type 1 diabetes mellitus, type 2 diabetes requiring insulin treatment, or other specific types of diabetes; pregnant or breastfeeding women; severe trauma, severe infection, or surgery within 1 month before screening that may affect glycemic control.
How the Study Was Run
It was run as a randomized, parallel-group and open-label study.
Because people in this Tirzepatide study were split into groups at random, differences between the groups are less likely to reflect who happened to join each one.
Groups ran in parallel: each of the participants stayed in one arm throughout.
Being open-label, the Tirzepatide study did not mask who received what.
It started in 2026-07-20 with completion listed for 2027-10-31.
It ran at 2 sites in China (2).
Its stated primary purpose is treatment.
What Was Measured
The main thing measured (primary outcome): Percent Change in Body Weight From Baseline to Week 52 (time frame: Baseline to Week 52).
It also tracked 11 secondary outcomes, for example Change in HbA1c From Baseline to Week 52, Change in Fasting Plasma Glucose From Baseline to Week 52, Change in Waist Circumference From Baseline to Week 52, Change in Body Mass Index From Baseline to Week 52, Proportion of Participants Achieving Type 2 Diabetes Remission at Week 64 and Change in CGM Time in Range From Baseline to Week 52.
What This Means in Plain Language
Put simply, this is a phase 4, randomized trial of Tirzepatide in 285 people.
Its status is not yet recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.

Our Notes on the Compound
Tirzepatide: A prescription peptide medicine that acts on both the GIP and GLP-1 receptors; Mounjaro and Zepbound contain the same active ingredient.
