What This Study Did, in Plain Language
What Was Tested
This registered not phased trial tested hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin).
To compare the embryological and reproductive outcomes of dual trigger versus conventional hCG trigger for final oocyte maturation in normal responder patients undergoing ICSI cycles.
It had two arms (groups): Dual Trigger (experimental) and HCG Trigger (active comparator).
Dual Trigger Group: Participants will receive a GnRH agonist combined with hCG.
HCGTrigger Group: Participants will receive hCG alone.
The registry classes the interventions as drug.
More on the Plan
Secondary Outcomes The following secondary outcomes will be assessed: * Number of retrieved oocytes. * Fertilization rate. * Number and quality of embryos. * Implantation rate. * Clinical pregnancy rate. * Multiple pregnancy rate. * Incidence of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).
Who Took Part
Enrollment: 100 planned participants were the target.
It was open to women only aged from 20 years up to 40 years.
Healthy volunteers were not accepted; participants needed the condition being studied.
Examples of who could join: Women aged 20-40 years. Body mass index (BMI) between 18 and 30 kg/m². Undergoing ICSI treatment using a GnRH antagonist protocol. Normal ovarian reserve and expected normal ovarian response. AMH between 1.2 - 3.5 ng/ml.
The full record lists 7 inclusion and 7 exclusion criteria; among the exclusions: poor ovarian response (bologna/poseidon criteria); high ovarian response with a risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (ohss) amh \> 3.5 ng/ml or afc \> 15 follicle; polycystic ovary syndrome (pcos).
How the Study Was Run
It was run as a randomized, parallel-group and single-blind study.
The participants were allocated by chance, so the hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) group and the comparison group should start out alike.
The hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) group and the comparison group ran side by side rather than switching.
In this single-blind hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) study one party knew the assignments and the other did not.
Those kept unaware of assignments: outcomes assessor.
It started in 2026-09-01 with completion listed for 2028-08.
It ran at 1 site in Egypt.
Its stated primary purpose is treatment.
What Was Measured
The main thing measured (primary outcome): Oocytes Maturation (time frame: From oocyte retrieval until completion of oocyte assessment, approximately 0-2 hours after retrieval).
It also tracked 6 secondary outcomes, for example Number of MII oocytes, Number of oocytes retrieved, Fertilization rate, Embryo utilization rate, Clinical pregnancy rate and Incidence of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS).
What This Means in Plain Language
Put simply, this is a not phased, randomized trial of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in 100 people.
It is still recruiting; no results are posted to the registry yet, so nothing here describes outcomes.
More context: the hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) compound page, all human trials.
Our Notes on the Compound
hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin): An LH analog that drives Leydig-cell testosterone production.
