What This Paper Covers, in Plain Language

What It Covers

This systematic review looks at Vitamin D, K2, Magnesium and Zinc.

To synthesize evidence from systematic reviews and meta-analyses on low-level laser therapy/Photobiomodulation (LLLT/PBM) and vitamin D as non-invasive adjuncts for accelerating orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) and mitigating associated side effects.

How the Review Was Done

PubMed/MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases were searched from inception to November 18, 2025.

SRMAs primarily comprising human RCTs evaluating LLLT/PBM or vitamin D in orthodontics were included; in some mixed-design reviews, clearly separable human orthodontic data from a small number of CCTs were retained narratively.

(one pre-registered exception with 4 RCTs for vitamin D to ensure completeness).

Randomized controlled trials were prioritized; some retained reviews also included a small number of controlled clinical trials when relevant human orthodontic data were clearly separable.

Quality was assessed using AMSTAR-2, ROBIS, and GRADE.

What Was Measured

To synthesize evidence from systematic reviews and meta-analyses on low-level laser therapy/Photobiomodulation (LLLT/PBM) and vitamin D as non-invasive adjuncts for accelerating orthodontic tooth movement (OTM) and mitigating associated side effects.

Topics PubMed links to this paper include Tooth Movement Techniques, Low-Level Light Therapy, Vitamin D, Root Resorption, Biomarkers and Orthodontics.

What This Means in Plain Language

This is a systematic review of Vitamin D, K2, Magnesium and Zinc.

Its findings take up roughly 4 sentences of the abstract and are left out here on purpose; the source paper is the place to read them.

The publication is from 2026 (BMC oral health), a journal based in England.

More context: the Vitamin D, K2, Magnesium and Zinc compound page, all human trials.

Our Notes on the Compound

Vitamin D, K2, Magnesium and Zinc: Magnesium is described as required for AMPK to function.
