What it is
A gut and brain peptide hormone that stimulates gallbladder contraction and signals fullness.
Type: Gut peptide hormone.
Definition (National Library of Medicine)
“A peptide, of about 33 amino acids, secreted by the upper intestinal mucosa and also found in the central nervous system. It causes gallbladder contraction, release of pancreatic exocrine (or digestive) enzymes, and affects other gastrointestinal functions. Cholecystokinin may be the mediator of satiety.”
- MeSH: Cholecystokinin
Human research
The registered human trials and peer-reviewed human studies linked below are listed from ClinicalTrials.gov and PubMed. A study is linked only when Cholecystokinin (CCK) is one of its interventions, or is named in the study title or subject headings.
Listing a study does not mean it showed a benefit, and it is not medical advice.
