What it is
Cetrorelix (Cetrotide) is described as a decapeptide that blocks GnRH receptors, quickly lowering LH and FSH. It is used during controlled ovarian stimulation.
Mechanism (as described)
- Unlike GnRH agonists such as leuprolide, it suppresses hormones immediately without an initial flare.
Evidence (as described)
- It is well established in reproductive medicine (Findeklee et al., 2023) and has been studied for fibroids and endometrial thinning (Bhatia et al., 2008).
Status
FDA-approved (Cetrotide).
Registered human trials (70)
Peer-reviewed studies (124)
