What it is

Deslorelin is described as a synthetic GnRH analog much more potent and longer-lasting than natural GnRH.

Mechanism (as described)

  • Constant exposure first stimulates and then shuts down LH and FSH release, lowering sex hormones.

Evidence (as described)

  • Veterinary studies report delayed puberty in cats (Risso et al., 2012) and control of adrenocortical disease in ferrets (Wagner et al., 2005). Human use is limited to early research.

Status

Veterinary-approved implants (Suprelorin). Not approved for human use.
