What it is
A 37-amino-acid hormone released with insulin that slows stomach emptying and signals fullness; pramlintide (Symlin) is a synthetic version.
Type: Peptide hormone.
Definition (National Library of Medicine)
“A pancreatic beta-cell hormone that is co-secreted with insulin. It displays an anorectic effect on nutrient metabolism by inhibiting gastric acid secretion, gastric emptying and postprandial glucagon secretion. Islet amyloid polypeptide can fold into amyloid fibrils that have been found as a major constituent of pancreatic amyloid deposits.”

Human research
The registered human trials and peer-reviewed human studies linked below are listed from ClinicalTrials.gov and PubMed. A study is linked only when Amylin (Islet Amyloid Polypeptide) is one of its interventions, or is named in the study title or subject headings.
Listing a study does not mean it showed a benefit, and it is not medical advice.
