What it is
A 9-amino-acid peptide that widens blood vessels and causes swelling; given in research studies of blood flow.
Type: Peptide.
Definition (National Library of Medicine)
“A nonapeptide messenger that is enzymatically produced from kallidin in the blood where it is a potent but short-lived agent of arteriolar dilation and increased capillary permeability. Bradykinin is also released from mast cells during asthma attacks, from gut walls as a gastrointestinal vasodilator, from damaged tissues as a pain signal, and may be a neurotransmitter.”
- MeSH: Bradykinin
Human research
The registered human trials and peer-reviewed human studies linked below are listed from ClinicalTrials.gov and PubMed. A study is linked only when Bradykinin is one of its interventions, or is named in the study title or subject headings.
Listing a study does not mean it showed a benefit, and it is not medical advice.
