What it is
MariTide is described as a GIP-receptor-blocking monoclonal antibody joined to two GLP-1 agonist peptides. The antibody gives it a long half-life, so it is dosed monthly (Véniant et al., 2024).
It is a large antibody conjugate made only by Amgen. There is no genuine research-vial supply, and anything sold under this name should be treated as unverified.
Mechanism (as described)
- It combines GIP-receptor antagonism with GLP-1-receptor agonism, the opposite GIP approach to tirzepatide.
Evidence (as described)
- The phase 3 MARITIME program in obesity, with and without type 2 diabetes, is ongoing.
Status
Investigational (phase 3). Not approved anywhere.
